Less than 12 months old

This guide outlines typical types of vehicle damage, and whether they
would be considered as acceptable fair wear and tear or chargeable
repairs/replacements based on a vehicle that is below 12 months old.

Windscreen​

Acceptable fair wear and tear:

Any light scratch less than 40mm long will not be considered a damage.

Charged separately:.

- Scratches of less than 10mm can be repaired. Larger scratches will require replacement.

- A chip less than 10mm in front of the driver will be repaired. If bigger than 10mm then you will need to replace the windscreen.

- A chip less than 40mm that is within the area swept by the wiper blades (but outside of the driver’s line of vision), can be repaired. If bigger than 40mm then the screen will need to be replaced.

- A large chip/crack will need to be replaced.

Bodywork – Scratches

Acceptable fair wear and tear:

- A light scratch that is less than 25mm on a panel and the base coat that has not penetrated is acceptable.

Charged separately:

- Deep scratches on painted surfaces that go all the way through the base coat will need to be repaired and painted. If the scratches are on more than one panel, then the painting of each affected panel will be charged per panel.

Bodywork – Dents

Charged seperately:

- A dent on a panel that is less than 25mm, needs to be repaired.

- A heavily damaged panel, will need to be replaced.

Alloy Wheels

Acceptable fair wear and tear:

- Scuffs up to 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel.

Charged seperately:

- Scuffs over 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel.

- Excessive damage to the alloy wheel will result in a replacement.

Interior Seating

Charged seperately:

- A scuffmark less than 50mm in size is considered to be a minor damage, and will be dealt with as a repair.

- A rip or worn section of the seat, that is more than 50mm will need to be replaced.

Interior Trims

Charged seperately:

- A repair will be required when a vehicle is returned with any cracks less than 50mm in size.

- A large crack in the trim, that is more than 50mm will need to be replaced.

Windscreen

Acceptable fair wear and tear:

Any light scratch less than 40mm long will not be considered a damage.

- Scratches can only be repaired if 10mm or below. If it is any larger this will need to be replaced.

- A chip less than 10mm in front of the driver will be repaired. If bigger than 10mm then you will need to replace the windscreen.

- A chip less than 40mm that is within the area swept by the wiper blades (but outside of the driver’s line of vision), can be repaired. If bigger than 40mm then the screen will need to be replaced.

Optional Extras

If you fit any accessories or optional extras to the interior or exterior of the vehicle after delivery, for example, a tow bar, roof rack or bike rack, please ensure that it is removed prior to returning the vehicle and any damage caused by their fitment is repaired or this will be chargeable.
