12 – 24 months old
This guide outlines typical types of vehicle damage, and whether they
would be considered as acceptable fair wear and tear or chargeable
repairs/replacements based on a vehicle that is 12 - 24 months old.
Windscreen
Acceptable fair wear and tear:
- A light scratch less than 40mm long should not be classed as damage.
Charged separately:
- A scratch can only be repaired if 10mm or below.
- Any chips smaller than 10mm will be repaired. Chips bigger than 10mm require the screen to be replaced.
- If the chip is bigger than 40mm then the screen will need to be replaced.
- A large chip/crack should be classed as damaged and therefore would need to be replaced.
- A light scratch less than 40mm long should not be classed as damage.

Bodywork – Scratches

- Light scratch that is less than 25mm on a panel and the base coat has not been penetrated.
Charged separately:
- A deep scratch on a panel and the base coat has been penetrated.
- Any scratches on more than one panel will have to be repainted.
- Light scratch that is less than 25mm on a panel and the base coat has not been penetrated.
Charged separately:
- A deep scratch on a panel and the base coat has been penetrated.
- Any scratches on more than one panel will have to be repainted.
Bodywork – Dents
Acceptable fair wear and tear:
- Small dents, less than 15mm, on a door panel is acceptable as long as the paint surface is not broken.
Charged separately:
- You will be charged for the cost of a repair if your vehicle has a dent on a panel that is less than 25mm.
- A large dent on a panel will cost to repair or replace.

Alloy Wheels
Acceptable fair wear and tear:
- Scuffs up to 50mm on the total circumference of a wheel.
Charged separately:
- Scuffs over 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel will result in a repair.
- Excessive damage to the alloy wheel will require it to be replaced at a cost.
- Scuffs up to 50mm on the total circumference of a wheel.
Charged separately:
- Scuffs over 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel will result in a repair.
- Excessive damage to the alloy wheel will require it to be replaced at a cost.
Interior Seating
Acceptable fair wear and tear:
- A scuffmark on the seat, that is less than 50mm.
Charged separately:
- If a scuffmark on the seat is more than 50mm, this will be carried out as a repair.
- A damaged seat will cost to replace the necessary seat section.
- A rip in a seat will cost to replace the necessary seat section.
- A scuffmark on the seat, that is less than 50mm.
Charged separately:
- If a scuffmark on the seat is more than 50mm, this will be carried out as a repair.
- A damaged seat will cost to replace the necessary seat section.
- A rip in a seat will cost to replace the necessary seat section.
Interior Trims
Acceptable fair wear and tear:
- Light scratch marks on the trim, that are less than 50mm.
Charged separately:
- Cracks in the trim less than 50mm, will be carried out as a repair.
- Large cracks in the trim, that are more than 50mm, will result in full replacement.

Optional Extras
If you fit any accessories or optional extras to the interior or exterior of the vehicle after delivery, for example, a tow bar, roof rack or bike rack, please ensure that it is removed prior to returning the vehicle and any damage caused by their fitment is repaired or this will be chargeable.
